Hunters whose coming to the Austrian Alps usually have two objects of hunting interest. These are chamois and marmot. The best dates to trip for chamois are August (the beginning of the hunting season) and October / November  (rut time season). Hunting for marmots is most effective in August, when these rodents come out of their burrows with their whole families and bask in the sun. Hunting for deer and stags during the alpine rut is also very spectacular.
